Butch the Tow Truck is a breakdown vehicle on the Island of Sodor. Butch is also known as the Sodor Heavy Recovery Unit. He is very powerful, and is serious about his job and loves working especially with his engine friends. Despite his immense size, he is a kind hearted giant.

The adjustable tow arm is magnetic and allows Butch to tow the other characters by their coupling or carry magnetic cargo. The arm is raised and lowered by use of a dial.
